Hand Mucking
"Muck" is a word that has various meanings when we consider the world of gambling. In the poker division, the term muck is defined as the heap of cards that is discarded. Each player decides to fold and throw their cards.
The unused or burned cards are placed by the dealer. To help ensure a player that none of their co-players can find out the cards that were a fraction of the plied hand, the method of mucking the discarded cards is the best way. The act the player will do when he or she has not plied his/her cards is also referred to as mucking. On the other hand, when cheating, especially at gambling and blackjack, mucking will acquire another meaning.
Mucking: Cheating?
Mucking has several kinds of meanings when referring to cheating. It is the case in the game of blackjack and even in other kinds of card games. Mucking or hand mucking as it is called is usually used for cheating, by players. It is a kind of agility of hand. Essentially, whenever a player wants a card that he can use at the later part of the game, this is a method of hiding some desired card and taking it away from the game.
How to do hand mucking?
At casinos, maybe one of the most ideal methods of cheating for players was hand mucking. In the past years, control cameras were not used, as in casinos the security system was not so rigorous. Given this situation, using hand mucking was a piece of cake for the players. Unnoticeably removing a certain card out from the table, without being cut by the others or by the dealer, was not an easy task. Nor is it today.
There are many kinds of maneuvers that are used to store the removed card once it is detached from the game. It can be placed discreetly in the pocket or beneath the table. To amplify the lead of a certain player, the card that has been detached from the game will be put back at later moment. An example of this, when playing blackjack, an Ace can be removed by a player to the table. Then, at a certain moment, the player can put back the Ace in his hand when he has already a ten to create a blackjack.
Is hand mucking effective?
When the security was walking in baby shoes, hand mucking worked perfectly. At the present time, because of the awareness of casinos about these cheating techniques, it is easier to be caught in the act. The dealers are also trained to identify quickly these scams. Where the eyes of man fail to be exact, the cameras will spot you in a second. The pit managers who will hunt you down make also all hand mucking impossible.
